But you do know that the main characters will have some kind of time jump throughout the film. 4.  What  conventions  are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? The conventions are definitely the characters. The movie is based in a Nickelodeon tv show. People are most definitely going to want to wat

Title website research

Image
Art of the title is a very useful website. It has many opening sequences ranging from horror movies to family animation film.  It also had many popular title sequences, that caught the attention of a plethora of viewers. Making it in our opinion a very accessible website. Not only does it encourage it’s users to dive into movie title sequences, it also dissects the television shows. The different things you can explore on the website are also pleasurable. Going from articles, to studios and even featured films. The best thing has to be the diversity within the website. The website introduces many different cultures of film and keeps users on their toes. Art of the title is definitely a top tier website and can definitely do some good. I’d recommend it in the future.  The second website was typically comparable to the first but not as appealing to our interest. It had the same things but was more focused on interviews. It had a lot of opinions from third party viewers. The site had a v

Movie Conventions- Boogie

Image
Boogie Release date - 2021 This movie is the closest to what we want our film to be about. It has the relationship drama, school drama. And the best thing, the mama drama. A young boy navigating through high school all while trying to impress and please the people around. All while playing sports. The setting in this movie is awesome, and city life setting with busy and bustling streets. The costuming  is spectacular and so are the dialogue. It’s natural and it doesn’t feel to forced. The p.o.c  representation was also nice We don’t like the amount of comedy incorporated into a movie with a topic  that should be taken more seriously. We feel as if there needs to be less humor, but just enough to keep the audience refreshed. Definitely something we wouldn’t incorporate too much off.

Movie Conventions- Love, Simon

Image
Love, Simon Released 2018 This is your typical, coming out story. Simon is finding himself identity wise. He ends up cheating on his girlfriend with a boy and its a whole lot. This movie has a whole lot if relationship development. Like stated before, the relationship development was a big thing for us. We felt as if we needed to bring that into our film. It was the best way to tell our story. We do not want to focus our attention on the positive aspects of different relationships. “Love, Simon” portrayed a film about the different parts of a relationship, the good and the bad. That is terribly annoying, although it’s realistic. It is also annoying.

Movie Conventions- Tall girl

Image
Netflix’s Original Tall girl Released in 2019 In tall girl they incorporated the general idea of “the boy next door” concept but also a girl finding herself out looking the standards of high school. Something that we would definitely love to incorporate into our film. Some kind of character development should be shown. Like all coming of age films The people that surrounded the main character played the perfect roles. They helped move along the script and gave the main character its her own boost of morale and flavor. That is one of the most important things that could be incorporated into the storyline of a “coming of age” film. The clothing was so cliche, and it just wasn’t good. We do not want to have those clothing types anywhere near our film. We prefer to keep it as realistic as possible. Not tacky and flashy

Genre Decision- Coming of Age!

Image
We decided that a coming of age film was the appropriate genre that matched our pitch. A coming of age doesn’t always have to match a specific criteria, so it would be easier to incorporate different things into the opening sequence without it being considered unorganized. The music is also a choice that we can make, with the proper permission. Seeing as we can use a song with or without words because both tend to be normal for those kinds of blogs. The costuming and acting is entirely off of what we decide to make our story about. Coming if age is honestly the simplest and easiest to work with. Out other two choices were drama and comedy. We can easily incorporate both if those into a coming of age and kill three birds with one stone. At first we felt as if it would be hard to try and incorporate all of that into one sequence but we realized that if we did coming of age, we wouldn’t even have to incorporate “all” of anything. Our final decision is coming of age.

Genre Research-Comedy

Image
CAMS- Most comedy films don’t have camera work in their opening sequences but when making the film their CAMS would be.. Tracking Shots and Pan shots to follow specific characters  POV shots (they always have atleast one scene where they show a situation from the characters perspective.) MIS-EN-SCENE- not a lot of this in an opening sequence but when there is it’s normally… costumes can honestly range depending on the type of film but are usually pretty casual teenage clothing, nothing out if the ordinary  makeup if not a cartoon or something of that nature is natural, nothing dramatic unless the character has a specific look to portray props would be based on scenes. lighting all depends on location but it is usually bright because of the happy feeling the comedy is trying to give off but it may vary depending on the film (for example scary movie) the acting always depends on the plot, which is normally depending on whether the main character is a girl or boy if there is acting in

Genre Research- Drama

Image
Drama CAMS- Dramas are usually associated with extremely close up shots, bird eye views, medium shots, over the shoulder shots and close ups.  MIS-EN-SCENE For drama's things like setting, props, and costumes may vary but in regards to things like acting and make-up they are usually the same. Through most of the movies viewed, drama's are usually associated with serious acting, not a lot of joking around. The makeup like most films that aren’t superhero movies, are natural. Same for costumes, the just depend on the characters  Editing- The editing always has some kind of foreshadowing. They try to let the characters know that something is going to happen through the way they edit the sequence is very fore-shadowy. Sound-  The sound happens to vary, but it’s normally a very still-sounding no word track playing. Like horror movies, not a lot of descriptions Examples of dramas would be Little Women, The fallout, and After Things I love about the opening sequences are the usage of

Our Pitch

Image
Pitch 1 Imagine a struggling young boy who has nobody to believe in him who's only chance at college is track. We believed that this was a good idea because of our previous knowledge. We have past experience  dealing with athletics and actors that perform sports so much we thought that this wouldn't be a big hard role too follow. Not only that we both share interest in track and field which only pushed us even farther to go with this idea. The last reason as to why we suggested this as a possible pitch is because of our resources. We have access to track runners who can be potential actors, a track, and a coach all willing to be apart of our production. Pitch 2 Imagine a young girl who was raised in a toxic household, took to drugs to escape the life she was born into. At first we thought the pitch about the drugs was a good way too really capture the way a toxic household is. We loved the concept of a young girl turning to drugs as a way out or an “escape”. But then we though
